Is Tom Ferry Coaching Worth It? A Tom Ferry Coach’s Honest Answer

Short answer: Tom Ferry coaching is worth it if you'll do the work between calls. For an agent who follows the schedule, tracks the numbers, and takes direct feedback, one extra closing a year usually covers the full cost. For an agent looking for a cheerleader, it's an expensive monthly subscription to feeling bad about yourself.

I'm Chris Robertson. I've been a Tom Ferry coach since 2019, I've logged more than 20,000 one-on-one coaching calls, and I still run a real estate team across South Orange County and LA County. So here's the answer I'd give a friend.

What does Tom Ferry coaching cost?

Tom Ferry coaching runs from $149 to $1,299 a month for individual agents (pricing as of July 2026):

  • Pivot: $149 a month for weekly group training

  • Core: $749 a month, or $8,388 billed annually, with 24 private coaching sessions a year

  • Elite: $1,299 a month, or $14,488 billed annually, with 48 private sessions a year

  • Team coaching: priced separately based on team size and structure

The math: does Tom Ferry coaching pay for itself?

Run your own numbers. Not mine.

Take your average commission check. Divide your annual coaching cost by it. That's how many extra deals you need to break even.

If your average check is $15,000 and you're in Core at $8,388 a year, you need less than one additional closing. One. For a lot of agents, that deal is already sitting in their database with nobody calling it.

The deal isn't the whole return either. Coaching also pays through:

  • Holding your fee instead of discounting it because you got nervous

  • Referrals from other coaching members across the country

  • Not spending $3,000 on a lead source that was never going to work

  • Getting your week back because you finally run on a schedule

Who Tom Ferry coaching works for

It works best for agents who:

  • Already have some production and want structure to scale it

  • Will block time for lead generation and protect it

  • Want to be held to numbers, not feelings

  • Are open-minded about changing the way they've been doing it

Who should skip it for now

I'd tell you not to sign up if:

  • You aren't willing to make calls or create content consistently

  • You want someone to tell you you're doing great

  • You can't commit for at least six months. Real change in a real estate business takes a few quarters, not a few weeks

That's not a sales tactic. Agents who aren't ready drain their bank account and their confidence at the same time.

What actually makes coaching work

Here's what most people miss. The program matters less than the coach.

Tom Ferry gives every coach the same frameworks: Business by Design for planning, and the 8 Levels of Performance for figuring out where you actually sit. What changes is who's applying them to your business.

Ask any coach you're considering:

  1. Are you still producing in real estate right now?

  2. What do you do when a client doesn't do what they committed to?

  3. What does a typical session look like?

  4. What do I get beyond the calls?

More on that in How to Choose a Tom Ferry Coach.
